What are LED lights and why should you use them?

The constant flux of technological change makes it nearly impossible to stay up-to-date with all the latest gadgets. It seems like yesterday your flip-phone was the newest thing on the block and now a new smartphone emerges every other day. We are going to introduce you to the lights at the end of advancing technologies’ tunnel: LEDs.

Since their introduction in the early 19th century, people have commonly used low-priced incandescent light bulbs. These short-lasting, inefficient lights give off a tremendous quantity of heat relative to the amount of light, resulting in high electric bills.

Many years later, history saw the sudden emergence of CFLs, or compact fluorescent lights. CFLs represented a major breakthrough in lighting technology, featuring increased energy efficiency, cooler temperatures, and increased longevity.

The focus on CFLs in this constantly evolving world was short-lived as a result of the introduction of LEDs. LED (light-emitting diode) technology has had industrial uses for many years, but has only recently been used commercially as an alternate lighting source.

Why this revolution? LEDs are the most efficient consumer light source, at approximately 300% more efficient than CFLs and 1000% more than incandescent bulbs. They are also the longest lasting, with a useful lifetime of about 50,000 hours, or 8 hours a day for 13 years. In comparison, the typical incandescent light bulb lasts only 1,000 hours.

So although LED bulbs are more expensive at the register, the savings in your wallet will be felt over the years. They also generate hardly any heat, making them cool to the touch. LEDs now come in a variety of forms from screw-in bulbs to string lights! Additionally, they are just as easy to install as other types of lighting, making them flexible and convenient. Our job at RTGS Products is to provide you with the best LED string lights at an affordable price.

Now that you know LED technology, consider the serious advantages of LED lighting for your home and office today!
